Colossians 3:23-24

July 2, 2023

One of the many things Felicia and I loved doing together was teaching Sunday School for kids. It has been years since we've been able to do that, but whenever we got an opportunity to teach someone, we enjoyed it.

But, this verse isn't about teaching Sunday School. It's about having a joyful heart while doing things - be it work, a hobby, a sport, and so on. When we approach our daily tasks with negativity, we generally underperform, get sloppy, or just barely do what's necessary. This reflects a poor attitude and displays a characteristic which isn't Christ-like.

If we approach any task as if Jesus, Himself, asked us to do it (i.e. we reflect a behavior of joy and focus), then we will see much better results, and those who observe us will see a much better example of being Christ-like.

This was one of the many verses Felicia helped me understand early on in our relationship. As the years went by, it became a lesson we would continue to teach each other by reminding each other whenever we got discouraged or frustrated with the task at hand. We constantly reminded each other that if we approached whatever task that seemed daunting with a heart of joy, we would find the task to be a little more effortless, and the results were usually positive...

Now, the task at hand is a million-mile climb up this mountain. A climb I never thought I would need to make one day. A climb I never imagined I would make without my dear bride and confidant. I am having to take this journey without my biggest cheerleader encouraging me as I go. How do I take on this unbearable task as if Yeshua, as if Adonai, asked me to do it? How can I move forward without my wife?

Prayer. Fasting. Prayer. Study.

With continous prayer and reading God's Word, I know I can do this. It's through my faith I've been able to make it nearly 19 weeks. And it's through my faith and prayer I know I can continue forward. And I'll need to continue for Yeshua, for Yahweh. I'll need to continue so others can see Him who Created all things. Felicia would be right behind me, giving me words of encouragement. Knowing this makes it just a little easier...

I love you, my dear Felicia. Always. Forever. #Fiercely
